
Julie Ellen "Tawny", Kitaen, was an American actress, model and media persona. She lived from May 7, 1961, to May 7, 2021. She started her career as a television actor, appearing in the television shows Malibu (1983), California Girls (1985). She was also in comedy films The Perils of Gwendoline and Bachelor Party (both 1984) and the film of horror Witchboard (1986). Kitaen received a lot of attention for her roles in several video music videos for heavy metal such as Ratt's (1984) "Back for More" Whitesnake's ("Still of the Night") and Whitesnake's ("Is This Love") (all 1987). In the late 2000s, Kitaen began appearing in reality TV series including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) which highlighted Kitaen's struggles with addiction. She was born Julie Kitaen in San Diego, California in 1961, the youngest of three children born to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) an housewife and one-time beauty pageant judge, and Terry Kitaen, an employee of a neon sign business. Kitaen was born to a Russian-Jewish father and a Scottish mother. [3] Kitaen was raised within the Jewish religion. [4][5] At the age of 12 she began to make use of the name "Tawny" She developed on her own initiative. [6] She was dyslexic as a young child. This made her leave Mission Bay High School. 7 years old when she went to see Penny Frampton perform at Balboa Stadium. [9]
